The Abilities Unlimited program is designed to be a gateway program for students of post-secondary transition age, focused on building the skills needed for independence in future employment, training and independent living scenarios for students with disabilities.

The program is offered through a partnership between Kaskaskia Special Education District 801, member school districts and the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS).

• Instruction focused on five major Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-Ets) topics: Job exploration, work-based learning, post-secondary education, workplace readiness and self-advocacy

• Linkages to post-secondary support agencies and programs

• Opportunities for career exploration and paid employment experiences

• Assist students in developing desirable work habits and realistic career goals

• Provide opportunities for students to explore careers and the prerequisite skills required for success in their chosen field

• Offer meaningful work experiences through on-the-job placement

• Encourage students to develop the social and interpersonal skills required to maintain successful employment
