The Abilities Unlimited program is designed to be a gateway program for students of post-secondary transition age, focused on building the skills needed for independence in future employment, training and independent living scenarios for students with disabilities.
The program is offered through a partnership between Kaskaskia Special Education District 801, member school districts and the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS).
Instruction focused on five major Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-Ets) topics: Job exploration, work-based learning, post-secondary education, workplace readiness and self-advocacy
Linkages to post-secondary support agencies and programs
Opportunities for career exploration and paid employment experiences
Assist students in developing desirable work habits and realistic career goals
Provide opportunities for students to explore careers and the prerequisite skills required for success in their chosen field
Offer meaningful work experiences through on-the-job placement
Encourage students to develop the social and interpersonal skills required to maintain successful employment
